Hiya! My name is Alyssa, and I believe that all individuals deserve access to safe and affirming therapeutic spaces that can welcome and embrace the fullness of our humanness. I acknowledge the courage and self-commitment inherent in seeking support for yourself
Alyssa received her BA from Columbia University and her MA from Naropa University. Alyssa provides a safe haven for LGBTQ2S+, neurodivergent, trauma survivor, chronic illness, and BIPOC communities, with additional depth of experience working with grief, emotional regulation, spirituality, and attachment.
More from Alyssa: As a neurodivergent, bisexual, nonbinary therapist of mixed race and cultural heritage, I realize how vital it is that you feel welcome in your wholeness. Major harm occurs when identity factors are not discussed and honored in the therapy space, and I am in full commitment to cultivating and co-creating a therapeutic climate of inclusion, equity, justice, and diversity through sociocultural attunement that attends to the interconnection between individual and collective health, incorporating social justice, liberation psychology, and person-centered lenses and place you as the expert of your experience while contextualizing your experience within greater social systems.
A contemplative psychology lens allows you to explore your experience moment-by-moment as we experiment with ways of relating. Life is already painful enough, and yet we unfortunately add more suffering on top of it by resisting, rejecting, or reacting in other ways to life’s inevitable difficulties. Working together, we can focus on how to more skillfully navigate through stressors while simultaneously opening to and reclaiming our capacity for joy, connection, fulfillment, compassion, kindness, and peace.
Specialties: I am trained in a few modalities, including MBCT (mindfulness based cognitive therapy), EFT (emotional freedom technique), IFS (internal family systems), and contemplative Buddhist-informed psychotherapy. Alyssa is also certified Mindfulness Instructor.
At times, it’s helpful to just “be with” experience, and at other times we need to take action. Working together, we can cultivate discernment to uncover your inherent wakefulness and wisdom.
